Entering the Netherlands the landscape changes noticeably with many varied livestock enjoying the green pastures. . . . . It’s as “pretty as a picture”. !!!!! Cows wandering around the windmills and the pigs definitely look happy and contently muddy!!
Bruce finds the giant clogs and we know we are near Camping de Muk, The goats welcome us and we climb up onto the new rooftop deck for a cuppa!
We cycle the beautiful Dutch countryside and also manage to squeeze in some washing and SafetyQuip work.
Leaving Bruce resting at Camping de Muk, we grab our small travel bags and a taxi and two trains later we are in Rotterdam……. a 2 1/2 hour journey. What an interesting, fun city.
We treat ourselves to a night at Mainport Hotel and our room on the tenth floor overlooks the port and a perfect vantage point for the fireworks that night.
Lots of action on the water in Rotterdam – the annual World Ports Festival is happening this weekend. It was highlighting the capabilities of the port. Re-enactments of rescues by helicopters, arrests of drug smugglers, mock gun battles with pirates, etc – all added fun to our stay. The army was also in the action with rides on their all-terrain vehicles. The James Cook ship was there too – entertaining passengers with port tours.

Great to follow your adventures! ‘s-Gravenzande, my hometown, is only 30km away from Rotterdam… I miss the Dutch bitterballen & kroketten!
Looks like you really had fun experiencing this city! Keep enjoying and sharing ….
You’ve enjoyed Rotterdam.
If you want to see the port where it really all happens, go to the Maasvlakte, 30 km southwest of the city.
