No Bruce, No Bikes . . . . Just Cruisin’ . . . . !!

Come and join us on the MS Allegro! Cruising with our lovely friends from Erp (The Netherlands) for 7 days has been relaxing and lots of fun.

Departing from Rotterdam on a sunny afternoon we begin our journey along canals with may locks, passing numerous cargo ships and industry on the banks, and visiting six towns along the way.

Each day we receive a DAGPROGRAMMA (Days Program) – it is all Dutch to us!!

The John Deer green and gold tractors look colourful as they pass us on the canal/cargo ship.

First stop, Dordrecht ! Beautiful old canal town with the best Menswear in Europe . . . .  “Bartlett Finest Menswear” !? !?!

This wine barrel bike is very novel.

Docking in the tiny fortress village of Willemstad we then wander around the bunkers and windmills.

In beautiful Maastricht, there is a wedding with this quaint wedding car.

They use the GLUTTON !! vacuum street cleaners here.

This modern art sculpture in Antwerp (Belgium) was created in memory of a young boy and his dog who used to visit the church to see and admire the amazing Rubens paintings – unfortunately he died from neglect!! Sad indictment on society at the time. Full story of the book written about Flanders (part of Belgium) is here.

There were large tulips and schnitzels in Roermond!!

We all celebrate on-board together our last evening in Nijmegen. . . . . Another great cruise.!

  1. Brings back some wonderful memories of our adventures on the Allegro, down the Rhein.

So have they got a toaster on board yet ! All that bread but no toast.

The photos look wonderful and I see the same Hotel Manager is still there. Maybe next year.
