After a relaxing 10 hour overnight ferry to Newcastle Upon Tyne, Bruce excitedly heads north 3 1/2 hours to Kate & Al’s home in Laggan, in the Scottish Highlands! He pulls up in front of the “coffee bothy” store and their home on the right! We spot Kate waving at the window, top left, as we park Bruce out the front!
During our walking and cycling “tours” in Holland we have often been rewarded by interesting, amusing and colourful sites that remind us of “true” Holland . . . .perhaps in a bygone era.
Our terrific time in London included catching up with Courtney (Whitney’s close friend) who is working in London for two years
No, we haven’t gone M.I.A. – missing in action! Our Malaysia Airlines A380 touched down smoothly and safely at its intended destination, Heathrow, London!!
Making a beeline in our hire car to “Dummer”, near Basingstoke, to reunite with “Bruce” (our motorhome) where we gave him a clean bill of health and declared him fit to travel!!
It has been difficult to write this, our last blog entry of our 2014 “Gap Year” . . . 8 months of which has been in Europe !!
Where to begin (this is my third try)? . . . .we have been . . . . .
Now, a visit to UK wouldn’t be really complete until we have met royalty, preferably the Queen . . . would it!?!? After all, we’ve flown all the way from ‘Straylya (Australia) & driven 20,000km since March to boot !!.!! One should expect a royal experience . . . . or two !!? More of this later…….
After a smooth, comfortable ferry crossing from Calais in France to Dover in UK, we drove Bruce back to London.
With lots of reasons to celebrate, Pummy’s birthday and …….. the announcement by Ryan and Sabrina of their impending TWINS…….. identical too !!!! … YES, we are all so excited …….. the champers was popped open and the party began!

You may ask, “What is the population of France in 2014?” In short, A LOT!! …… 66 million and we know where they all are!!?……
Yep, they are down here with us in the South of France at the beach, in Cap d’Agde! Don’t know what the sand looked like as you couldn’t see any! Beach umbrellas and bronzed bodies everywhere! We managed to squeeze Bruce into a camping spot for one night & whilst we enjoyed the summer holiday atmosphere, we soon ventured inland again!
