Sensational San Sebastián ! Part 1 !

Studying the maps the following morning ….after, yes, a wonderful peaceful sleep at the cemetery, we decide to head  to San Sebastián , or Donostia in Basque language .

Bruce seems to be enjoying the rear view of this Diego tanker for quite a few kilometres …..more than we’d have preferred!
You can spot his handsome reflection if you look closely!

Passing through more interesting Spanish towns on way to San Sebastian.

WE don’t usually return to places we’ve already visited because there’s so many great places that we haven’t discovered yet on our adventures! However, we remember fondly our short visit nine years ago to San Sebastian, so we thought it was worthy of another look see!
Last time, Bruce was in a crowded, concrete Aire for camping cars and this time we thought we’d treat him, & ourselves , to a proper caravan park !!
We are delighted when  Bruce follows the GPS and it takes us through a beautiful green forested area, and then we arrive at Camping  Igara !

Our Motorhome journey this year has been wonderful again ! However, with a new place almost every day & lots of walking  we have now found the perfect haven to stay put for awhile …..and recharge our batteries! Bruce is happy with the mini holiday too !
Actually, after only one day, we decided we’d stay a week …. the magnificent swimming pool was a clincher for Bev & the great internet for Marks work  sealed it too ! ..Not to mention the fantastic restaurant !

Hey, you can’t see me in the pool because it’s so enormous ….…

HERE I am ! ……wish you were here too ! How crystal clear is the water & it’s not cold either !
I’ve even been able to swim laps of backstroke without bumping into anyone !

Oh no , Mark has caught me out snoozing  ! Ha !!

Marks office with great internet, is keeping him happy…..whilst l splash away !
Poor Mark ! 😩

We thoroughly recommend  Camping  Igara  with its amazing swimming pool, very friendly staff, beautiful terraced gardens, spotless amenities, newish cabin accommodation and a wonderful restaurant called Marios. What more do you need ?

They also know how to  make great Americano coffees too !

Our first night at the camp caravan park we ventured into Restaurant Mario‘s for dinner. Such a wide range of food on the menu.  Bev couldn’t resist the seafood Paella & a pic with handsome Carlos ! The prawns were so juicy & large  & Mark loved his tasty Pizza .

The best Sangria’s with heaps fruit too ! Who could resist ?

Mark discovers his portable barbecue in Bruce the following night & so he cooks up a storm for us ! …..an Australian Spanish inspired barbecue !
Cooked well done , just as l prefer !!

Mark needs to work for a few days but on Saturday we excitedly grab our bikes and venture into beautiful San Sebastian ! ….continues in our next blog   …….

  1. That looks a wonderful place, also the drive there, you would love that pool Bev and with the weather looking so nice. Lovely to have Lee and Di here for a few days, they are working at the moment, but tomorrow we will get to the garage. Enjoy the next leg, love from me. Xx
