Hola! Spain here we come!

Hooray!!! on Sunday, we board a Brittany Ferry from Plymouth in the UK to Santander in Spain.

It’s all smooth sailing on the 22 hour journey in the bay of Biscay is surprisingly calm, thank goodness !! So we can relax & enjoy the long voyage with Su & Pete . Sipping our coffees at the bow of the ship there are even pods of dolphins entertaining us ! Due to the smooth sailing , sleeping is no problem in our comfy cabin !

Su and Pete also have a motorhome and we are travelling together for a week or so in Spain and Portugal. After docking at 3 pm Monday, we set our GPS south west for the small historic town of Potes. Winding , zig zag narrow roads, take us up into the picturesque Picos de Europa National Park. However, we are never quite sure when a bus or motorbike is coming around the next blind corner corner !! Not really a relaxing drive !

Our camp ground “Camping La Viorna”, just outside Potes, is lovely, with the majestic Picos De Europa mountains creating a spectacular backdrop……The sound of cow bells come free of charge ! I have included a pic of the culprit with the enormous cow bell which jingles loudly for many hours when she is eating ! After a while we found the sound quite enjoyable & it added to our camping experience !!We could have been in Austria or Switzerland !?

On our stroll into Potes  we meet  guys walking The Camino & take their pic in front of the statue for them ! Mark also wanted his pic taken ! ( see pic) Potes has many ancient , interesting buildings and we enjoy walking along the cobblestone paths. We are intrigued with these raffia, woven clog like shoes that are lined with plastic? Mark suggests that they might be for plants or flowers! Mark assures me that they won’t fit in our suitcases ……very disappointing!? Ha haha !
