The ports are calling

Douarnenez is our next port of call in Brittany – literally, with it’s three historic ports. With the sun finally setting at 10:15pm, we park Bruce up in this street in a cosy carpark, 50m from the port.

Fishing, pleasure and racing yachts everywhere! The tuna and sardines from here keep the canneries in Europe busy. We watch as ninety racing yachts prepare to embark on the Mini-Fastnet race to Ireland and return, 1,000 km! One crew member effortlessly climbs the mast to adjust the rigging.

Douarnenez old city – has interesting sights and we observe budding artists painting seascapes at the oldest port.

If only we could read fluent French . . . we could take one of these servez vous (help yourself) books!

Yeah, the sun shines as we drive to Pointe Du Raz, with is a Grande Cite Nationale.

Driving past the quaint white houses we are tempted for refreshments at a small creperie (of course). Mark savours the local speciality – Gateaux de Breton – with Pruneaux. Bev meanwhile enjoys the Crepe du Citron.

Next stop is the port of Audierne where Bruce has peaceful waterfront views tonight. Voila, when in France . . . .  moules et frites!! bon apetit!

    1. Hello Gerry & Nicky,
This travel agrees with us – and we love it.
The more driving/manoeuvring/camping we do in the motorhome, the more comfortable we feel. Still a big unit for some of these villages.
      Mark & Bev.
