As we say goodbye to fantastic Croatia, we also say goodbye to the nice weather! Bruce is a wee bit confused today . . . . what country am I driving through now? In this corner of Europe with the borders so close by, we notch up 4 countries on one day!! Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Germany! We have to pay for the privilege too with Vignettes for Slovenia and Austria. There are many tunnels here!

Zeus and Vesuvius
After a few hours drive south of Rome, Bruce nestles comfortable between the trees in Camping ZEUS. . . . 100m from the Pompeii ruins with Mount Vesuvius peacefully looking down on him.
I am sterdam !!!
A short 30 minute drive, north of Utrecht, we find ourselves in the hustle and bustle of the city of Amsterdam.
Bruce’s home for the next five days is only a 15 minute, free, crowded ferry trip across the river from Centraal Station, in the NDSM WERF (wharf) area. The area is the former home of the NDSM shipbuilding company. Lonely Planet now describes the area as having a post apocalyptic vibe ?!?! There are about 100 motorhomes in this E25 per night “camping” spot – really it is a large, secure car park with electricity, water and dump facilities.
