Mallorca coach, boat and self-drive EV tour!

Let’s go on a day coach tour from Palma, in the south, to the northern tip of Mallorca!

Being driven on a coach tour is definitely a novelty for us! It’s particularly enjoyable for Mark, who can now relax & take in the scenery. The beaches here boast soft, white sand & clear, warm water!

After a pleasant 50 minute drive to the north of the island, our coach ascends the Del Colomer lookout. After some extreme switch back turns & some anxious moments we are up the top. The coach driver deserves a medal for delivering us safely here!
Leaving the coach, we take the many stairs up to this spectacular panorama!

There’s a busy, vibrant Sunday morning market in the old part of Alcudia. We stop here for 2 hours so we can explore, shop & have a cuppa.

Mark appears very happy with his purchase of a new leather belt!

He then discovers the “Husbands Chair” where he waits patiently while l browse the stalls…..He thinks there should a lot more of them!

Guess who is inspired to host a Spanish, flamenco themed party in Melbourne when they return!?……come on guys it will be fun l guarantee! I’ll squeeze some of these dresses in my luggage for you!

Next stop is to the picturesque beach of Formentor, another highlight of our trip today.

It doesn’t take long before we’re swimming in the crystal clear, warm Mediterranean sea.
I think it’s about time for some aquatic calisthenics too!! …..oh boy, l know I’m a bit crazy! No one was watching…..

There are numerous wild goats roaming around looking for food & drink. They are indigenous to Mallorca. This guy looks like he’s found something interesting to eat!?

These three guys are especially photogenic & pose perfectly for me!

Our tour continues but now we’re on a short coastal cruise from the Bay of Pollenca, with the coach collecting us at the end.

High up on the hillside there is an impressive, 16th century fortress which is now called Fortaleza Castle. This is where Rafael Nadal got married in 2019 with 360 guests in attendance. What an amazing venue! Nadal & his wife both come from Mallorca.

On our last in Mallorca we hire an electric car, a Polestar 2, for the day. Mark hadn’t driven an electric car & he found it great!
The east side of the island also has amazing beaches so we head off to explore the coastline.

In about 50 minutes we reach the eastern coast of Mallorca & choose 4 beaches to check out. It’s another hot summers day & also holiday season so most of the beautiful beaches were packed.
Cala d’Or is so popular today with its clear turquoise water. We manage to park a kilometre away & go down for a look! Beautiful water but too crowded hence we continue to the next beach on our list.

Next beach is Cala Muranda & Mark walks down to get a closer look at the sea. It’s quite rocky but very scenic.

At Colonia de Saint Jordi we discover the less crowded beach of Platja es Port!
We agree we could easily stay a week here with its long, white sandy beaches & clear warm water. There are kayaks for hire & an attractive seafront promenade with small Spanish inspired restaurants & cafes. Sounds perfect for a long beach holiday!
If this all appeals to you put it on your bucket list!

Adios from marvellous Mallorca! Our 5 nights here have been fantastic!
Here l am writing this blog in this beautiful notebook that my friend, Kate, gave me 10 years when our Aussie Bruce adventures began!
