Discovering east coast of Spain …..

Our Spanish coastal road adventure continues north ish (north-east), up the east coast. The landscape looks so inhospitable & the river beds are parched dry. Nevertheless, still very interesting to see…..

Our campground tonight is just around this corner & 2km from the seaside village of Carboneras, 14€ per night. It’s not peak season yet & so not many other campers here.

Yeah!…..The camp even has the obligatory swimming pool just for me! The lush, green fake grass is extra appealing in this arid environment! Would you believe the pool is closed between 3-4pm for the compulsory siesta! I was naughty & managed to sneak in a dip at 3.30 & before the kids arrived back after their rest ! Mark took the opportunity to roll the awning out and scrub it clean.  Nobody commented on the water usage,  two buckets of water used, which is a lot here.  Very dry

We presume this old car is a collectors piece & Mark wants one apparently! Not quite the BMW  he enjoys now !!

Time to grab the bikes & we trek into town taking the dirt track part of the way!

”Come on Bev!” Mark says as he rides into the distance.

We had planned on dinner at a restaurant but changed our minds when we saw this van ……

So it looks like we’re having patatas(potatoes )tonight! Nice & easy to order too…..you just point & choose from the array of toppings. No google translate required for once! They were delicious & stuffed with everything!

The following morning we ride to Carboneras for our morning cafe Americanos! We’re so impressed that it warranted a pic! It came presented with extra hot water & only 2€ !

The beaches here have dark, pebbly sand but the water is pretty clear.

Riding back up the hill we pop into the local market.

Driving north to our next coastal destination ….. we spot this kangaroo ahead!? Mmmm….

  1. Great photos Bev and Mark. It is like taking the vacation with you and it is so damn cold here at the moment that even a vision of the sun and a pool works some magic.
Yesterday’s batch of photos really painted a picture
