Time to leave the comfort of camping Igara and venture south west to Burgos.
Vitoria Gasteiz is an hour away on the autopista (freeway/motorway) & we pull over for lunch & a look around. It is the capital of the Basque Country & was founded in c.1855.
Yes, it’s almost 3pm & Mark is famished!
A tortilla never tasted so good! In a baguette ..
Bruce refuels with diesel (gasoleo) at 1.55€ litre & then we refuel at Eroski with vino Blanco for 1.69€ bottle! We’re happy with that!…..perhaps we should reserve our opinion until after we test taste? Shall give you our verdict soon.
Through more tunnels & we arrive at Camping Fuentes Blancas, 3km from central Burgos.
The main attraction in Burgos is the elegant Cathedral of Saint Mary c1260. It’s one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Spain & UNESCO listed.
Here are beautiful panoramic views overlooking Burgos & the cathedral…..and NO, we didn’t get a ride on the Tourist Train to get up here!
Back in town I couldn’t resist getting chummy with these interesting locals!
l would love to recreate this colourful floral display at our home!
Maybe some of you will be inspired to become a bride after admiring these spectacular, elegant, Spanish wedding dresses? I’m sure delivery to Australia could be arranged!
Not mentioning any names……
I admire the ancient buildings & Mark then checks the map to find our way back to our bikes.
However, first things first, the sun is finally out, so cold liquid refreshments are required…..
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!!! Love following your adventures, photos and commentary informative and fun.
We’re still in Coventry at Megan’s until the 23rd. Ship departs Dover on the 25th, getting close now.
Nice pictures, it drives the will to escape from cold Melbourne.
