La Zubia & beyond !

La Zubia is the local, small town near our Camping Park in Granada. It’s definitely non-touristy & let’s have a wonder up the road and see what the locals are up to!…. Looks like we’re having an Americano & fresh churros for brunch first!

Well for starters, the locals are creative & l love(no pun intended) this heart shaped recycling bin!❤️

We admire the attractive, Spanish white church & buildings. The church is La Sagrada Familia – not the one renowned in Barcelona!!

ln a shop window, we spy this flyer promoting a celebration of San Pedro(Saint Peter)…..mmm this looks interesting & fun! I take this pic & then translate it ! Maybe we could go along to this?

Then around the next corner there is lots of laughter & cheering…..what do we have here?

It’s the beginning of a week’s celebration of San Pedro!

The procession begins in front of the San Pedro town square naturally!

The girls are preparing to aboard their decorative “wagons”  for the 4 km journey to the park for festivities. There is a police escort too!

The small crowd, including us, waves & cheers as they parade pass us!

After so much excitement we pop into our friendly little Spanish cafe, El Jardin, for Tapas & refreshments. How wonderful is google translate…..it’s busy at work here!

It happens to be almost 3pm & the TV is showing the start of the Formula One Grand Prix, in Barcelona!

The owner of the shop is hoping Spaniard, Carlos Sainz, will end up on the podium of course! Spanish flags going wild !

Meanwhile, we are being served lots of varied Tapas delights from the menu.
Morcilla or blood sausage is a local specialty & Mark bravely ordered some. I let home him do the honours & apparently it was delish! I love the paella & lamb with garlic !

What a fun afternoon enjoying the local Spanish culture!

Bruce is on the move again after 5 days of rest & recharging his batteries.

Mark sets the GPS & we’re off to the “CostaTropical” on the Mediterranean.
