Granada, here we come

Olive tree plantations as far as the eye can see! However, significant drought & extreme heat has affected their growth & fruit production. Hence prices of olive oil are soaring to record highs!

Bruce drives us excitedly into the Province of Granada! We are in the Andalusia region & you can see the rugged, Sierra Nevada mountains in the back drop.

Camping Reina Isobel is our destination & is only 8 km from central Granada. It’s a beautiful, small family run park with attractive, Spanish style.

Here is the grand staircase leading up the wonderful, crystal clear, swimming pool…..complete with an ornate Spanish fountain at the top!

The lush, shaded landscape offers us some shade from the hot days here now! Bruce is particularly restful under the trees.

Mark has been work long hours most days but it’s not a bad Spanish office…..l will insist he takes a break soon & a refreshing dip!

We are in the little town called La Zubia & we stroll to check out the local streets. I’m impressed/ amused by this large heart shaped recycling container, great idea.

Time for some Flamenco entertainment!

A small mini bus collects a group of us from the park & drives like “the fast & furious” up tiny, one way laneways at break neck speed!

Thankfully, we arrived without incident, at Venta El Gallo, which is high above the city of Granada! The white cave structure is very impressive! It is built into the hillside. A true troglodyte experience.

Our ticket was for the dinner & the show.

My gazpacho tomato chilled soup was presented well & tasted interesting, an acquired taste……

Mark loved his Spanish favourite…..tortilla of course.

There  was a mix up with my main & instead of chicken l received this traditional cod dish. They did promptly remedy their mistake.

We enjoyed the gypsy family’s flamenco & singing performances. Ole! Ole!

The Spanish guitar solo was vey impressive.

Perhaps the highlight & crowd favourite was when the young girl, their daughter, performed, showing amazing skill & talent.

After the show we were treated to a spectacular view of the Alhambra flood-lit at sunset

Ohh, we have the same frustrated formula 1 driver to escort us back down the winding laneways! Sorry, no pics of “speedy Gonzalez”…..too busy holding on…. Back to our camping.
