York and Highland Flings . . . fun !!

Heading North East our overnight stop in York was short and the heavens opened up!! After purchasing two new brollies, we explored what we could in heavy rain and downpours!

We discovered evidence of Mark’s family heritage . . . Molly Brown (Mark’s grandmother) and Browns (Browns Motors) Ha Ha!!

Excitedly we head further North to Laggan in the Scottish Highlands to visit Kate and Al. Its always wonderful to have a reunion with them. It is autumn and the scenery is colourful and dramatic as we hike through the nature reserve. Al and Mark are in luck as they spot a Golden Eagle souring over the ridges of the trail.

We dropped by and visited Kate’s work at Russwood adjacent to Newtonmore Station.

Our Sunday at Blair Castle was fantastic. We highly recommend a visit to the castle with its beautiful gardens and very interesting and informative displays inside.

Guess who is the 12th Duke and the owner of Blair Castle? . . . . No other than BRUCE !! He lives in South Africa and visits every year for the annual Highlands Festival.

  1. Hi guys, looks like you’re having a great time! If you haven’t already you need to pencil in the Edinburgh military tattoo – it really is a fantastic event.

  2. Hi Bev & Mark,
Wonderful photos! Favourites: Bev & umbrella beside lit up Bill’s , Mark-The Travelling Man, the beautiful stone bridge and trio in foreground of Blair Castle with Kate’s head resting on hubby’s shoulder. Special that you guys could catch up again. Scotland has always fascinated me and my favourite accent, alongside Canadian of course!
    love
    Lyn
