In picturesque Rochfort Mark’s looking tres debonair in his new suit . . . . of armour!

Meanwhile Bev laps up the sunshine near the quaint wishing well.

On a hilltop overlooking the village of Rochfort is this elegant chateau.

We drive through  a small forest to Paimpont, where Merlin the Magician made his home?!?! The twelfth century church here has a roof designed on an upturned boat!

The sun sets in front of  Bruce and the soccer (football) ground tonight!

Next stop, delightful Dinan!! Wow! This medieval walled town is surrounded by three kilometres of tall ramparts (walls) dating back to the Celtic era. Motorhome parking is under the huge railway viaduct – now used by the N176, next to the river Rance. Can you spy Bruce nestled in there?

Mark seems suitably impressed with Hotel De Ville.

Oh No! Another creperie or two! Even a Creperie le Medieval – now we’ve seen it all!

Amongst the half timbered houses and the cobbled streets there is also a community living and working here of about 12,000 with many shops and businesses. Dinan is probably the most attractive and best preserved small town in Brittany.

Take your pick form these trendy shoes?!? . . . or maybe you prefer a new bag at  . . . . SACMANIA !?!?

The small river Port of Dinan, now popular for pleasure boating, was a short peaceful stroll from where we parked Bruce.

Looking up through Bruce’s skylight at 11pm.

  1. Good that you are on the road again Mark & Bev, with more of these top blogs and photography. Love hearing the historic details. You two could make even a snail race sound interesting!!

  2. Bonjour from sunny London. I’ve missed your blog!

Pinki and I went to Brittany a couple of years ago. There was a medieval festival on where everybody dressed up in er, medieval outfits and jousted on horses etc.

Dinan and it’s environs are fantastic. Mont Saint Michelle is worth the drive as is the old town in Saint Malo (great margaritas!) and a long walk around the coast in Dinard.

    Have fun !!!
